I was a participant at the second edition of the Take 2 Workshop facilitated by Sanjay & Ameet last month.
Post the restructuring exercise in my organisation where I worked for 10 yrs, my role was eliminated towards the end of last year. With a realisation that nothing stands permanent, this came as a much needed opportunity to take a break, travel & pause to reflect on aspirations & expectations from work & life. Taking this time off has come with a breath of freshness –experience the unhurried pace of life, the enthusiasm to explore, to learn & get to know myself better.
Last month a friend shared the Take 2 workshop brochure with me. The name in itself got me curious. A 2.5 days immersive workshop for people seeking Career transits, work – life transitions, Entrepreneurs & Intrapreneurs. Wasn’t too sure if this workshop was for me but after speaking to Sanjay it was clear that this is possibly the milestone to the next level of preparedness needed.
Our workshop group was a great mix of both genders coming together from around the country– corporate professionals, entrepreneurs, founders & co –founders from across various sectors as Marketing, Media, Sales, Retail and HR. Each one with a single focus of wanting to expand, discover ways to bring work –life together and unearth the potential lying dormant.
The approach to the workshop was exploratory, engaging & supportive. Various experiential learning methods, activities & strategies were used to first identify the current stage each of us are at, then help us elicit and share our feelings & emotions of what’s stopping us while we are on this undiscovered path of our aspired Take 2.
Holding circles & dialogues & listening to each other was one of the key essentials of the workshop. During our interactive & reflective circles, I noticed we sometimes justified our actions or defended them, putting forth our opinions and long standing beliefs. Through this partnered process, we were discovering our actual desires & key motives.
Being pushed to listen to the Self deep within, consider newer perspectives & possibilities & being reminded to be grateful for what we have was how the workshop progressed. It was a delight to see Sanjay & Ameet facilitate us through this web of emotions with gravity, grace and warmth. A space they created for us to ‘Be’, ultimately helping each of the participants realise that this ‘Take 2’ is our unborn child and before its birth we need to drop all inhibitions and be prepared to take its complete responsibility & decide its future.
This workshop reiterated that discovering oneself is the key. The more you know yourself, the less you need the approval of others.. coz you begin to accept & believe in yourself which is the starting point of the journey of greatness! One of the tools which helped me analyse my temperament, highlighted certain areas which were an eye opener. I was now able to come face to face with the actual reasons that have been acting as a deterrent in my momentum so far.
I have come back with a startling discovery of my relationship with Risks, Ambiguity, Failure & Self doubt by discussing the possible causes, the symptoms, the purpose, benefit & their harmfulness. The workshop simplified that ‘Failure’ is not to be feared and acceptance of failure is a necessary part of life.
To me, Take 2 is an unconditioning workshop, a SMALL effort of bringing in a BIG shift by not only looking outward but also voyaging deep within. It’s an approach to lead one’s life with an ‘enterprising mindset’ which has helped me realize my innate ability to take risk, embrace uncertainty with greater vigor and be self driven in the face of challenges.
